Dec. 6: Sierra Club hike

SIERRA CLUB OUTING: Stump Pass Inlet, "Barrier Island Ecology" 9 a.m., Sunday. At the extreme southern end of Manasota Key, Stump Pass is one of the few natural inlets on this coast. This popular yearly hike, guided by Dr. Bill Dunson, leads about a mile down the beach and returns through the maritime forest, pausing to see and discuss wildlife encountered along the way. Sightings will include invertebrates, shells, plants and birds. Wear shoes appropriate for walking in soft sand. There is a parking fee at the state park.
