Dec. 10: The Animal Farm
George Orwell's classic study of power, greed, and the ability of language to support abuse is the topic of the Literature Forum discussion at 1 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Boca Grande Community Center. The Literature Forum continues to enrich the intellectual life of island residents and visitors with its examination of works that meet high standards of writing and thought. We welcome everyone to join in the lively discussion that characterizes the meetings of the Literature Forum.

The Fossil Club of Lee County is presenting a Fossil Show at the Calusa Nature Center in Fort Myers from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 5. Admission is $3 for adults, free for children under 12. The Show features a Kid's Dig conducted by the Fort Myers Imaginarium. Kids get to keep a specimen of their choice. Also, there are raffles, silent auctions, fossil games, and door prizes. The Club has several exhibits of fossils found in Florida including bison, camel, rhino, three-toed horse, sloth, giant armadillo, glyptodont, mammoth and mastodon specimens and fossil shark teeth.
