Dec. 4: Christmas Chaos

The stars of Florida Championship Wrestling are gearing up for a huge return to Punta Gorda Friday for its Christmas Chaos super show at the Charlotte Harbor Event and Conference Center. FCW is the exclusive training organization of the World Wrestling Entertainment. The card will feature eight matches including a heavyweight state title match, a Florida tag team Title match and Divas in Action. A special autograph session is set from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. with WWE Hall of Famer Ricky Steamboat and FCW Heavyweight Champion Justin Angel. All fans donating a toy will a free FCW gift. Doors open at 6 p.m. with bell time at 7:30 p.m. Tickets in advance, are $10 for youngsters and $17 for adults. A limited number of Gold Circle Ringside tickets are available for $25.

The annual Boca Grande Barbershop Chorusand Boca Grande Christmas Chorale Christmas Show will be presented at 3 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Church at Third and Gilchrist streets. Dec. 6: Sierra Club hike

SIERRA CLUB OUTING: Stump Pass Inlet, "Barrier Island Ecology" 9 a.m., Sunday. At the extreme southern end of Manasota Key, Stump Pass is one of the few natural inlets on this coast. This popular yearly hike, guided by Dr. Bill Dunson, leads about a mile down the beach and returns through the maritime forest, pausing to see and discuss wildlife encountered along the way. Sightings will include invertebrates, shells, plants and birds. Wear shoes appropriate for walking in soft sand. There is a parking fee at the state park. Jan. 11: Bible study class

Our Lady of Mercy Church will study the Gospel according to St.John using a commentary developed by Scott Hahn and Mark Shea for Catholic Scripture Study International beginning at 8:30 a.m. Jan. 11, in the Parish Hall, and continuing through April. Hahn, author and teacher, founded the St Paul Center for Biblical Theology, and is a professor of theology at Franciscan University. Shea is an award-wining columnist and nationally known speaker on scriptural studies. Each program will feature a DVD lecture, and each student will receive a student workbook with information and questions for understanding and reflection.
