Dec. 15: Arts & Humanities Council Open House

The Arts & Humanities Council of Charlotte County invites the community to its Annual Holiday Open House from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15 at 2702 Tamiami Trail (Charlotte County Chamber of Commerce building), Port Charlotte. During the party, the Council and the Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon-cutting commemorating the Council’s new home.

Dec. 8: Waterfowl hunting permits

The drawing for waterfowl hunting permits for the T.M. Goodwin/Broadmoor Waterfowl Management Area (Indian River County) scheduled for Dec. 3 has been rescheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday. The electronic system used by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s vendor for distributing these permits experienced a total outage from before the time they were to go on sale until 10:45 a.m. that day. Similar outages were experienced by at least seven other states using this system. No licenses or permits were processed during the outage. This was the third of four application periods for the limited-entry Goodwin/Broadmoor waterfowl hunts. The application period has been rescheduled and permits for all affected hunts will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Lipizzaner Stallions who will be performing at the Charlotte Harbor Events & Conference Center at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 5 and at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Jan. 6.

New Year's Eve: Fishermen's Village party

Fishermen’s Village and Smugglers, Inc. will present a free New Year's Eve Fireworks Extravaganza Dec. 31. Beginning at 8 pm New Year’s Eve and continuing until midnight, festivities in Center Court Include: • Luis The Balloon Man with Balloon Creations • Airbrush Art for Face & Body • Sounds of the Virgin Islands Band • Fireworks at midnight over Charlotte Harbor.
