Police target Gasparilla Road speeders

The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office will look for speeders on Gasparilla Road/County Road 771 from South Gulf Cove to Placida all next week beginning Monday.

They will also track speeders on Harborview Road from U.S.41 to Interstate 75 in Port Charlotte where 49 crashes involving 84 vehicles, injuring 17, caused $249,350 in 2008 damages.
Police will monitor traffic light enforcement at the entrance of Gasparilla Road where State Road 776 and County Road 771 intersect. Last year there were 18 crashes there involving 36 vehicles, injuring eight, and causing $52,250 in damages.
