SPEED TRAP: State Road 776 from U.S. 41 to El Jobean Bridge in Port Charlotte where 61 crashes involved 129 vehicles in 2008, injuring 58 and causing $398,800 in damages
The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office will target the following four roadways for tighter traffic enforcement:
SPEED: State Road 776 from U.S. 41 to El Jobean Bridge in Port Charlotte where 61 crashes involved 129 vehicles in 2008, injuring 58 and causing $398,800 in damages; and Bermont Road (County Road 74), from Punta Gorda to Glades County line where there were 32 crashes last year involving 48 vehicles, injuring 25, causing $230,800 in damages.
TRAFFIC LIGHT ENFORCEMENT: U.S. 41 and Toledo Blade Boulevard where 38 crashes involving 76 vehicles in 2008 injured 24, causing $174,210 in damages; and Jones Loop and Taylor Roads in Punta Gorda area where 13 crashes involving 24 vehicles in 2008 injured three, killing one and causing $58,800 in damages.
