Charlotte County Sheriff's Office received a report at 11:36 a.m. Friday of a small plane down in a wooded area in Port Charlotte near Midway Boulevard and Lauzon Avenue. Deputies report no smoke is seen and it may have been a "soft landing."

Deputies are in communication with the pilot and there were two passengers aboard. The CCSO helicopter is overhead at this time. There does not appear to be injuries.
