Two bald rear tires helped two men get killed in an auto accident Monday, according to Lee County Sheriff's Office traffic homicide investigators.

Investigators found the two bad rear tires coupled with the wet road conditions, caused the car to lose traction and spin out of control into the bus. The victims were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash but succumbed to multiple internal injuries after the 8:25 a.m. traffic accident on Buckingham Road, near Orange River Road, Fort Myers.

witnesses told police the driver of a black Honda traveling northbound on Buckingham lost control of the vehicle as it was rounding a curve in the road. As the vehicle lost control, it went into the southbound lane where it was struck by a Lee County school bus.

The driver was Elfego Mercado-Quintana, 28, of 5821 Buckingham Road No. 5, Fort Myers. The passenger was Adrian Nunez-Romero, 30, of 5821 Buckingham Road No. 2, Fort Myers.
