The window of opportunity is small coming just once every two years for four hours. The viewing, however, is large at the 2010 Art in the Home Tour. Spectators can get an eyeful of seven spectacular Boca Grande homes from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 18 featuring unique island architecture, personal art collections and landscaped gardens. The fifth annual Art in the Home Tour is a major fund-raiser for the Boca Grande Art Alliance said Executive Director Midge Mason. Proceeds underwrite all Art Alliance programs lectures, classes, overhead and upkeep, she said. "It's a special island event," Mason said. Only 300 tickets will be sold and they are moving well, Mason said. "We have probably 100 left," she said. Featured resident homes include: Mrs. DoDo Hamilton, 280 Palm Ave.; Tom and Pat Jeffs, 1603 Jean La Fitte; Dr. David and Patty Hayes, 344 Gulf Blvd.; Jim and Sharon Rankin, 1141 11th St.; Bill and Ann Lathrop, 4040 Loomis Ave.; Dr. Bill and Pat Heisel, 1670 Jose Gaspar Dr.; and Doug and Chrys Hyde, 1704 Jose Gaspar Dr. The $50 tickets are available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at the Art Alliance office, 236 Banyan St., next to Boca Bargains. A special raffle will be held at the Hayes's home. "Thanks to the efforts of Patty Hayes, Coral Creek Golf Club has donated the grand prize for the raffle: a round of golf for four at Coral Creek valued at $600," said Mason. Other raffle prizes include a fused glass platter and glass handkerchief bowl donated by Art Alliance exhibiting artist Esther Jensen. Raffle tickets are $10 each or three for $20. Raffle winners will be drawn Feb. 19. |
