The Boca Grande United Methodist Church Vacation Bible School "High Seas Expedition" set sail this week at the Community Center with more than 60 children having fun, contributing charitably and increasing their faith in God
Attendees included island children as well as visitors from Georgia, Pennsylvania, Orlando and Tampa. Ruth Ann Spurgeon and a team of 24 counselors divided the children into four groups all named after sea-faring vessels. They rotated through the following stations:
High Seas Assembly, which includes pledges, Sail Away Cinema, a dramatic Bible voyage and prayer;
Mariners Music Station;
n Clipper Ship Crafts, including the "Kid to Kid Blanket" project with each camper completing a blanket for a child in need wrapped around a coloring book, crayons, and a hand-written note. Other crafts are planned as well;
Ship Rec Games to blow off steam running around outside;
The Galley where theme snacks reinforce the message of the day;
Beacon Mission where speakers from local missions speak to the campers; and
Floating Finale in the Field area with a water slide and games.
The camp concludes today.
