Tuesday storms could trigger tornadoes

April 5, 2011
Gasparilla Gazette
The Florida Division of Emergency Management with local emergency management officials are urging residents and visitors to exercise caution as another potentially severe storm system moves east into the state today. “A squall line of thunderstorms developing ahead of a front will move through the Florida Peninsula Tuesday,” said state meteorologist Amy Godsey. This storm system’s main threats will be lightning, damaging wind gusts and hail. This system also has the potential to produce tornadoes. A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms. A Tornado Warning means a tornado has been sighted or picked up on radar in the area.
