Robert M. Bohon, 82, Englewood, died May 18.

Born June 3, 1928, in Quincy, Ill., the son of Marion Thomas and Mabel Stoffel Bohon grew up in Washington, D.C. He came to Englewood from Lancaster, Calif.

In a varied writing career after graduating from the University of Missouri School of Journalism he covered professional basketball and hockey for The Washington Post, was a sports reporter in Middletown, Ohio and Tulare, Calif., and sports editor in Reno, Nev.

He wrote and edited public relations and corporate communications for Space-General Corp. and The Federation of Independent Business in California, and EG&G Energy Measurements in Las Vegas.

His articles on Social Security and finance appeared in the San Diego Union, Los Angeles Herald and Chicago Tribune. He was past president of Sierra Nevada Sportswriters and Broadcasters Association, and received an award for his coverage of the 1960 Winter Olympics. In retirement he wrote an unpublished history of World Series seventh games.

An avid jazz fan and past-president of Lancaster Camera Club, he was also a member of Englewood Camera Club and Suncoast Writers Guild.

Survivors include a brother, Edward Bohon of Englewood, and six cousins.

Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday with services to follow at Christ Lutheran Church, 701 N. Indiana Ave., Englewood 34223. Burial will follow at Gulf Pines Memorial Park, Englewood.
