Edwin Bruce Bassett, 101, of Palm Harbor, died Saturday, Nov. 12, peacefully at home with his granddaughter by his side.
Bassett retired as an engineer from the Federal Aviation Administration. He is a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Flotilla 98, Charlotte Harbor and has served for more than 30 years.
Survivors include his daughter, Linda Haggard and her husband, Kenneth; their daughters, Melissa Joseph and her husband, Sam, Kimberly Haggard and Stacey Cavanagh; his daughter-in-law, Molly Bassett and her three daughters, Kitty Haynes and her husband, Daniel, Deborah Bassett and Sheri Cooke and her husband Bryan; and seven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
A celebration of life will be held at noon Thursday, Nov. 17, at Trinity United Methodist Church. 23084 Seneca Ave.. Charlotte Harbor. Entombment will follow at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Punta Gorda.
