The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office reported 18-year-old Lemon Bay High School student Michael Angel Rojas was found in his bedroom by a family member Thursday at their home in the Gardens of Gulf Cove.
Major Crimes Unit detectives said Rojas was taken to the Charlotte County Medical Examiner's Office in Murdock. Cause of death is pending a toxicology report. No foul play is suspected.
Police did not identify Rojas immediately after he was found deceased. The Sheriff's Office received a 911 call at approximately 4:32 p.m. Thursday in reference to an unresponsive male subject. EMS personnel found the deceased in the residence.
The Fire Hazmat Team had to clear the house from an unsafe level of smoke. The cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner's Office, which has custody of the body.
No foul play is suspected at this time.
The investigation is being handled by the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit.
