Tillie S. Cowan, 92, of Englewood died on her birthday Monday, Feb. 6.
Born Feb. 6, 1920 in Nashua, N.H., to George and Lambrene (Kantorene) Stergiou, Cowan was a resident of Venice since 1959 before moving to Englewood in 1999. She worked at Venice Hospital for 10 years before retiring. She was of the Greek Orthodox faith.
Survivors include her sons, Ernest "Skip" (Liz) Cowan of Rotonda West; John (Mary Ann) Cowan of Placida; Dennis (Sue) Cowan of Ft. Myers; sister, Bessie Petrou of West Palm Beach; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. today at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home and Cremation Services Venice Chapel, 1935 S. Tamiami Trail.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home and Cremation Services Venice Chapel. Entombment will follow at Venice Memorial Gardens.
