‘Topographical Jewelry’ shapes Boca Grande Masters Art Festival

The Boca Grande Resort will be teeming with fine art and fine wines during the three-day Boca Grande Masters Art Festival.

The fest opens from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, March 23, continues from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 24; and closes with a session from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 25.

Sixty select artists from across the country give the festival high quality and variety. ArtWine will feature tastings of four artisanal wines from South Africa, and author- artist Katie Gardenia will sign and sell "A Bubble Moment," her combination cookbook and coffee table book based on the years she owned the Bubble Room Restaurant on Captiva Island.

"I love how each coastline has its own character to it," Marien said.

Marien's most popular designs are the coastlines of Boca Grande, Sanibel Island and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

He also takes commissions. One man asked for a ring of Boca Grande Pass, Marien said, because that is where his family scattered his father's ashes.

Admission is free with a suggested donation benefitting the Harry Chapin Food Bank.

The festival is held in conjunction with the Boca Grande Resort, the Boca Grande Area Chamber of Commerce and the Harry Chapin Food Bank.

Marin's pieces come mainly in silver but are available in white gold and a two-tone bronze and silver.
