Edeltraud "Edie" Stephens passed away April 11.

Born Aug. 17, 1926, in Breslau, Germany, her family escaped to the American Zone in the last days of World War II.

Stephens became an interpreter for the U.S. Army where she met her husband of 63 years, Olin "Bud" Stephens, while serving his country.

She is survived by her husband, Bud; children Sigrid (Jack) Stephens, Kurt (Maryellen) Stephens and Ruthann Dempewolf; grandchildren, Kurt (Aggie) Stephens Jr., Gwen Stephens, Aaron (Erin) Heinlein , Danielle Malluck, Olin (Halle) Stephens II, Kolt Stephens, Emmett Dempewolf, and Evelyne Dempewolf; great-grandchildren, Sydney Stephens, Troy Stephens, Alex Stephens, Zoey Stephens and baby, Heinlein, on the way; sister Sigrid Meidenbauer; and nephew , Oliver Meidenbauer in Germany.

She moved to this area in 1973 and was a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 113, the VFW Auxiliary and the Eastern Star Chapter 300.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1 p.m. May 26 at the American Legion Post No. 113 on 3436 Indiana Road in Rotonda West, 33947.
