Larry Edwin Ireland, 66, of Englewood since 1972, formerly of St. Paris, Ohio, passed away after a long battle with cancer surrounded by his family.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Betty, of 46 years; daughter Trish (Terry) Meiser of Englewood; son Todd (Fran) of Raleigh, N.C.; and grandchildren, Shelby, Cody (Dakota) Meiser and Adam Ireland; mother Pauline; and sister Shirley (Larry) Duer, of North Port.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin, and nephew, Mark.?

Ireland founded Ireland Plumbing in 1974, and operated it until he retired in 2001. It continues to be a family owned business.

He was a devoted husband, father and role model to his children. His passions were camping, the north Georgia mountains, golf and spending time with family and many friends made along life's journey.

Visitation will be from 3-4 p.m. Thursday, with services following from 4-5 p.m. at Lemon Bay Funeral Home in Englewood.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or at cancer.org.
