Chamber head requests scholarship backing

June 19, 2012
Gasparilla Gazette

The date has been set.

For the last seven years, The Gasparilla Inn has generously donated and opened to the public its exclusive, Pete Dye-designed golf course to benefit the Boca Grande Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Fund and this year will be no exception.

On Monday Oct. 15, the Boca Grande Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Fall Golf Scramble Fundraiser at the Gasparilla Golf Club with a cocktail reception immediately following at the Gasparilla Inn Beach Club.

Last year, 18 teams played, which allowed the Chamber to support more than 30 students with college scholarships.

This year, we have awarded 13 new scholarships to qualifying high school seniors who are ready to take on the next chapter in continuing their education in the college or university of their choice. In addition, the golf scramble fundraiser enables us to continue to award continuing scholarships to qualifying students we have already made a commitment to and lets them know that their community supports them throughout their college education.

To participate in the tournament or if you or your business would like to sponsor this event, call the Boca Grande Area Chamber of Commerce for details and entry forms and sign up early. Entry forms will also be available online at bocagrandechamber.com.

Be part of the history that helps a student build the future.
