Tropical Storm Debby is still dealing out heavy rains, high winds and tornadoes to west central and northwest Florida.
The storm is blamed for the death of one person and significant flash flooding throughout the state.
Debby is now located about 90 miles southwest of Apalachicola and is barely moving, reports the National Hurricane Center. More rain and high winds are expected throughout western Florida for at least today and into tomorrow.
The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch in effect until 2 p.m. for most of west central Florida and parts of the Panhandle.Coastal flood warnings and watches have been issued for the west central and northwest parts of the state until 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Although high winds and rain decreased on Monday morning in the Southwest Florida region, including Gasparilla Island, a high tide at 7 a.m. was expected to increase flood risks throughout the region. New Port Richey received more than 10 inches of rain Sunday, while some areas of northwest Florida received nearly 15 inches of rain, according to NWS.
More rain is expected today and Tuesday.
