Gov. Rick Scott has appointed Larry D. Hart as Lee County tax collector. Hart, assistant tax collector since 2001, will fill the vacancy created by the death of Catherine M. Curtis.
Hart has worked with the Florida Tax Collector's Association and is a certified Florida collector's assistant. He is retired from Fort Myers Police Department where he served six years as chief and 22 years as a law enforcement officer before retiring.
Hart earned an associate degree from Edison College and a bachelor's degree from Barry University. He is a 1990 graduate of the FBI National Academy and served in the U.S. Army from 1973 to 1977.
