TS Debby recovery aid could be available

July 6, 2012
Gasparilla Gazette

Gov. Rick Scott has requested federal recovery money in the wake of tropical Storm Debby.

Federal aid was granted for Baker, Bradford, Columbia, Pasco and Wakulla counties. Aid for Charlotte and Sarasota counties was also requested yet not immediately granted. Lee County was not granted any aid.

State and FEMA teams continue to conduct damage assessments in Florida. Tropical Storm Debby made landfall June 27 in Steinhatchee although it exerted statewide impact with prolific rainfall and flooding impacts. Six Florida rivers reached major flood stage, and two - the Sopchoppy and the St. Marys - reached record breaking crests.
