Violent Charlotte County crime decreases in 2012

Charlotte County Sheriff's Office Bill Cameron's Uniform Crime Report Friday to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement shows violent crime for the first six months of this year decreased by 16 percent when compared to the same period for 2011, with overall crime increasing 0.7 percent.

Violent crimes consist of murder, forcible sex offenses, robbery and aggravated assault.

Property crimes showed an increase of 44 offenses for the first six months of this year when compared with last year in the same time period. This increase constitutes a 2.7 percent change in non-violent crimes for unincorporated Charlotte County.
