Police arrest 3 Rotonda burglary suspects

Three arrests have been made in the rash of "car hopping" and home burglaries in Englewood East and Rotonda West in late June and early July.

Detectives arrested a sister and brother, Chrystal Mae Koerbel, 24, 7-A Manor Court, Englewood East, and Jonathan Allen Koerbel, 20, 900 Oxford Drive, Englewood, in connection with a July 6 burglary to a home in the 100 block of Wayne Road, Rotonda West.

Chad Michael Hayes, 25, 7-A Manor Court, Port Charlotte. Chrystal Koerbel's fianc, allegedly drove her brother and Hayes to the home. Jonathan Koerbel and Hayes entered the unlocked home and stole a 55-inch television, numerous other electronics including two cell phones, a computer and a purse, valued at $2,300.

All were charged with burglary and grand theft; Chrystal Koerbel was charged with dealing in stolen property. Hayes was served his arrest papers at the Charlotte County Jail where he is being held on $92,500 bond in connection with several other burglary/theft cases. Detectives arrested Hayes July 13 in connection with six counts of vehicle burglary, three grand theft charges, and one count burglary to a dwelling, attempted use of a stolen credit card and petty theft, all on Euston Avenue on June 30 in the Englewood East area.

The Koerbels posted bond and were released from the Charlotte County Jail July 19.
