Two other subjects then arrived, police said. Plutt was told he was not going anywhere until Bodell got his money. Bodell said if he didn't get the money Plutt was going to have broken legs.
Plutt believed Bodell who is a martial arts fighter. After five hours, Plutt asked to use the phone to call his grandparents for money. Plutt faked the call and his captors drove him to Wal-Mart where he ran out of the area toward the tire center with three men chasing him. As they entered the bay area, Plutt yelled for help. Bodell and the other men ran out an exit, got into the same SUV and drove off.
Plutt was charged with burglary, grand theft and false ownership of a pawned item in connection with a June 13 home burglary in the 12800 block of Xavier Avenue in Englewood East, battery and violation of probation.
Carroll and Bodell remain in the Charlotte County Jail on no bond. Plutt is in jail on the home burglary charges. The investigation remains ongoing and a search for the two accomplices continues.
