Nelson’s deciding vote causes Mack complaint

August 2, 2012
Gasparilla Gazette

To the Editor:

The Senate held an up-or-down vote July 25 on whether to raise taxes on millions of Americans. For weeks Sen. Bill Nelson has told Floridians he didn't support the president's plan. But then he cast the deciding vote for it.

It's the same old Nelson we've come to expect. He talks like a moderate in Florida, but he votes like a lockstep liberal with President Barack Obama.

Enough's enough.

We cannot tax ourselves out of the economic mess Obama and Nelson have driven our economy into. We need real spending cuts and tax relief to revive job growth in Florida.

As he showed once again (July 25), we cannot depend on Nelson to fight for Florida jobs in the U.S. Senate.

We need real reform in Washington to restore prosperity in America, and that starts with defeating Nelson and Obama in November and replacing them with principled conservatives like Connie Mack and Mitt Romney.

Sincerely,

Jeff Cohen

campaign manager

Connie Mack
