Photo of the Week

August 6, 2012
By WILLIAM DUNSON , Gasparilla Gazette

We often fail to recognize how varied a bird's diet is even for birds because we normally consider them mostly insectivorous, at least in the summer.

We planted many viburnum bushes at our farm to offer small berries for birds and a variant (blue muffin) of arrow wood viburnum right in front of a window has been attracting unexpected visitors. Robins and catirds came as expected but bluebirds and even willow flycatchers have been wolfing down the berries.
