Two more men allegedly involved in the July 2 kidnapping of an Englewood East man have been arrested on warrants.
Eric Devon Lazenby, 22, 3601 Rockledge Dr., Columbus, Ohio, was arrested Aug. 3 in Franklin County, Ohio, and the Sheriff's Office Warrants Apprehension Unit picked up Austin Wessley Joiner, 21, 2091 Tarpon Way, Englewood Aug. 9.
The men were charged with kidnapping and false imprisonment.
Two other men: Christopher Lee Carroll, 40, 7363 Mullen Lane, Englewood East, and Kelly Ryan Bodell, 22, 301 Seaboard Ave., Venice, were arrested on similar charges in July.
Detectives said the victim was Mark Robert Plutt, 31, 261-B Rotonda Blvd., was at Carroll's home where he had been staying a few nights. Bodell, Carroll and Lazenby were also present.
At 11:30 a.m. July 2, while Plutt was on the phone, Bodell reportedly put a gun in his face and hit him several times in the face and head with his bare hands. Bodell reportedly said Plutt needed to pay $200 owed him from a previous robbery several weeks prior to this incident over prescription medications.
Joiner arrived while the confrontation was going on. Plutt was reportedly told he was not going anywhere until Bodell got his money.
Bodell, a martial arts fighter, said if he didn't get his money Plutt was going to have broken legs. After five hours, Plutt became fearful he was not going to get away and asked to use the phone to call his grandparents to send him money. Plutt faked the call.
Plutt was taken to a nearby store where he ran out of the area toward a tire center with three men chasing after him. As they entered the bay area, an employee walked in and Plutt asked for help. Bodell, Lazenby and Joiner ran out an exit, got into a SUV, and drove off. Plutt left on his own later.
Joiner remains in the Charlotte County Jail on $60,000 bond. Lazenby is in custody in Ohio with five previous arrests in Charlotte County.
