The sixth annual Buchan Aviation Fly-in breakfast will take place at Buchan Airport on the north end of Old Englewood Road from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 13. Free admission and parking. Quiche breakfast including pastry, orange juice, and coffee, $6. As many as 40 airplanes, including biplane, helicopter, private and experimental aircraft, will be available for viewing, as well as discussion with the pilots. Former Pan Am pilot Bill Nash will share tales of flying the famous Boeing 314 Clipper (the flying boat) along with many other distinguished aviators.
Exhibitors include RC planes, aviation books and parts, the Historical Society, Arts Alliance, and Coast Guard. A 50/50 drawing and other donated prizes will be awarded including theater tickets, jewelry, golf for four at Myakka, and gift certificates from Outback, Gulf View Grill and Applebee's.
