The Boca Grande Community Center needs volunteers to help with the Gasparilla Island 4-Mile Run & Fun Walk on Saturday, Sept. 22.
Volunteers are needed from 6:45 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. to direct runners throughout the course. No experience necessary, provide encouragement and point them in the correct direction. If you're interested in helping to make the race a big success, please call Joe Wier or Bob Green at 964-2564.
The Boca Grande Community Center asks the community to please share the road with runners and walkers on the morning of the run, which starts at 7:30 a.m. on Gilchrist Avenue just south of Banyan Street and heads north. Runners will make a right on Fifth Street, left onto the bike path and turn into Boca Grande Isles to the northern tip of the island. Runners will return nearly the same route back to the finish line on Banyan Street.
