Contractors pulled 55 permits in September to build single-family houses collectively valued at more than $15.3 million in unincorporated Lee County, which compares with 41 August permits and 27 issued in September 2011, according to the Lee County Department of Community Development.
For the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, permitting for single-family residences was up 30 percent over 2011. Permitting for multi-family residences was up 9 percent over 2011.
Eighteen multi-family units were permitted in September compared with 29 in August and 74 in September 2011.
General commercial activity was valued at nearly $507,375 compared to more than $16.5 million in August and more than $6.5 million in September 2011.
During September, Lee County Community Development issued 2,635 permits for a total of 31,314 for the fiscal year to date, up 4.5 percent over 2011.
