John Kissinger will moderate an informative discussion on the impact of the 2012 presidential election on the U.S. and global economic environment at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 at the Boca Grande Community Center Auditorium.
Two days post-presidential election the panelists will address the economic perspective of where we are and where we are going as a country.

Kissinger and all panelists are part of the Boca Economics Group, a group of 10 island residents with various business backgrounds who meet regularly to review current macroeconomic issues.
They will address a number of issues critical to the U.S. and global economic environment through the lens of policies likely to be followed by the new president and Congress.
Kissinger will outline the federal fiscal situation based upon recent Congressional Budget Office estimates and comment on the potential impact on health care, federal taxes and the status of the "fiscal cliff."

Mike Giobbe and Walter Meanwell will address U.S. capital markets and the foreseeable investment climate over the future as a result of the elections and current macro issues.
Jeff Swift will tackle structural trade deficits, public debt, private debt and economic consequences.
Panelist backgrounds
n Kissinger and his wife, Lona, have been Boca Grande residents since 2003. He has a bachelor's degree from Georgetown and a master's degree from Columbia. He was in corporate finance as a commercial banker in a variety of roles during 35 years at Chase Manhattan and at Sumitomo Mitsui. He was also head of the American Enterprise Fund in Slovakia after retiring from banking. Kissinger serves on the boards of the Boca Bay Master Association and Pass Club as well as The Friends of The Boca Grande Community Center. He is also on the Board of OBP Medical Inc., a medical products startup company.
n Giobbe arrived in Boca Grande in the mid 1980s. He is a graduate of the Taft School, Georgetown University, Columbia Business School and Infantry OCS at Ft Benning, Ga. His Wall Street career began as a security analyst at Lehman and includes stints as director of research at Mosely, Hallgarten, and director, executive vice president and head of the International Department at Cyrus J Lawrence Inc. and successor firms. He serves on a number of boards, including the Boca Grande Historical Society and the Barrier Island Parks Society.
n Meanwell retired from Wells Fargo Securities in Madison, Wis., after a career that spanned half a century. He and his wife, Jean, discovered Boca Grande in the 1980s. An active volunteer, he has served on the boards of the Barrier Island Parks Society, the Boca Bay Master Association, the Pass Club, and Lemon Bay Conservancy. He's often seen cycling on the island, an activity he has pursued around the globe. He continues to monitor capital markets and national and foreign affairs.
n Swift graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has more than 30 years experience in design, product development, manufacturing and business development. Corporate experience includes Hewlett Packard, Teledyne, Analog Devices, and three startup companies (one in progress). Swift and his wife, Betty, came to Boca Grande in 2005 and enjoy tennis, boating and the many treasures of Boca Grande. He serves on the boards of Boca Bay and the Pass Club.
