The Men's Fellowship group opens the 40th anniversary season for its pancake brunches from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24 in the Englewood United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 700 E. Dearborn.
"Historically, Englewood United Methodist was the first church in town," said Chairman Peter Patrick. "We call our brunch the 'grand-daddy' because it, too, was a first that helped spawn others here and even in numerous places up north."
A $4.50 ticket ($2 for children) buys unlimited pancakes, orange juice and a bottomless cup of coffee or tea plus egg and sausage or quiche and fruit.

For the 40th anniversary, a flapjack stack is being introduced as a $4.50 menu option. It is a special scrambled egg disk and flat sausage patty stacked between two flapjacks.
More than 10,000 tickets have been sold annually for these brunches with live music, boutique of crafts made by the Women's Creative Workshop and fresh nuts, grapefruit and honey sales.
The Men's Fellowship is a non-denomination group that meets for its Prayer Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. every Monday during "season" followed by an 8 a.m. breakfast and a 30-minute program.
Proceeds benefit the Englewood United Methodist Church's mission as a "servant church" to the local community. Fellowship scholarships for post-secondary education totaled $25,468 for 21 local youth last year.
