Thanksgiving chowhounds have nothing on this eater

November 27, 2012
Gasparilla Gazette

As we all look back on Thanksgiving feasts too big for our britches, Boca Grande Camera Club member Pat Wright has caught the ultimate binge eater who looks as if she barely survived his meal.

"I took some photographs of a female anhinga with a very large fish," Wright said. "I was absolutely amazed at the size of the fish and even more amazed that the anhinga was able to swallow a fish of this size."

It took the bird 45 minutes to swallow the fish and Wright said it was as difficult to watch as it was for the bird to make it happen.

She took the photographs near a pond behind her Cape Haze home with a Canon 500mm lens and a 1D Mark IV camera.
