The Lemon Bay Conservancy open house at Wildflower Preserve will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 8.
Wildflower is an 80-acre former golf course converted to a wildlife preserve. Trail guides will offer short trail walks to introduce the new trail network and varied habitats within the preserve on the eastern and western sections.
Visitors should wear shoes and clothing appropriate for a nature hike. Hats and water are also suggested.
Visitors will be able to observe the juvenile tarpon research project in Lemon Creek and talk with the research team.
For visitors with difficulty walking the trails, Thoroughbred Golf Carts will provide two golf carts for special tours. Sign for a tour time at the LBC information table near the parking lot upon arrival.
The special 10:30 a.m. "Introduction to Dragonflies" walk will be followed by the 1 p.m. "Butterfly Explorers" stroll.

The Men's Garden Club of Englewood, Charlotte Harbor National Estuary Program, Coastal Wildlife Club and the Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center will have informational booths. Volunteers from Lemon Bay High School Project Graduation will have food and drinks available for purchase.
