Gasparilla Gazette

The Charlotte Harbor Visitor & Convention Bureau has hired Jerry Jones as part-time Charlotte County director of film, television and digital media.

Jones is being asked to bring motion picture, television and commercial productions to Charlotte County. Jones has 27 years experience in the film and entertainment industry to Charlotte County. His most recent position was director of the Missouri Film Office.

Charlotte County is considered an underused area by Film Florida so filmmakers here are eligible for an additional 5 percent state incentive.

Lorah Steiner, tourism director for the Charlotte Harbor Visitor & Convention Bureau, said $27,681 has been budgeted for the position, including salary, travel expenses and promotions.
